Welcome

Domain Name
Q. What is a domain
name?
A. A domain name is
what is needed in order for people to find your website on the net.
An example of this would be our domain name of
www.eedie.com.
Think of it like your
name (Robert Smith), now if no one knew your name was Robert
Smith...how would they find you in the phone book?
It's just a name that is associated/linked to your site.
Q. How do I choose a
domain name?
A. Remember...shorter
is better. www.rs.com would be
the best, www.rsmith.com would
be second and so forth. Try to make easy enough to remember so that
people can find you.
Q. Which one do I
choose? .com, .net, .biz,.org, .info
A. .com &.net are the
norm and we would recommend you use one of these unless you are a
non-profit and then it would be .org. The others are there if that's
what you decided you like...but the majority will look for you at
.com.
Q. Ok, I bought a
domain name now what?
A. We need to get
that domain name pointing at where your site resides. If we are
hosting your site, the DNS would have to be changed to point too
NS1.ediesinc.com & NS2.ediesinc.com. If your site is elsewhere the
same holds true and Name servers would need to be supplied.
